DIY: Galaxy Easter Eggs
March 25, 2016
A long weekend is the perfect excuse for some DIY arts & crafts. Check out our latest project where we used red cabbage to create these unique galaxy inspired Easter eggs.

The Goods
A selection of hard boiled eggs
Pot & stove top
1 head of red cabbage
White vinegar
A shallow dish
Gold metallic paint
Paint brushes

The Method
Roughly chop a head of red cabbage.
In a separate pot bring the cabbage to a boil and then allow it to simmer for 30-45 minutes.

Strain out cabbage and allow water to cool.
Add 4 tbsp of white vinegar to the water.
Pour water into a shallow dish and completely the submerge eggs.
Depending on what shade of blue you want leave eggs in the water for 2-6 hours.
For a darker blue, we left the eggs in the water overnight.

*tip* for a better dry, prop eggs up. We used nails in a piece of wood but you can also use styrofoam.

Allow eggs to dry.
Wet paintbrush with gold paint and run your finger along the bristles to splatter the eggs.

The Prize
Beautiful eggs to decorate your table for Easter bunch, lunch or dinner!

Happy Easter from all of us at For The Love of Food!
xx
