Discovering Taste Down Under

There’s no question, we love our food! Whether it’s seared, barbecued, grilled or sautéed, hearty, healthy, vegan or greasy, you can bet we will try it (and usually enjoy it!). It is no surprise we love all food festivals, especially ones put on by our Taste family! When we had the opportunity to check out Taste of Melbourne while in Australia last year we jumped for joy, put on our stretchy pants and prepared to have our taste buds dazzled. One year later as Taste of Melbourne begins to cook up for 2016, we can’t help but reminisce of these mouth-watering dishes from 2015!

As we entered the park we were met by a familiar face ;)

We started the day started the day with a Varacruz-style ceviche with tomato chilli, lime & mexcal from Mamasita Melbourne. This dish also won best in Taste and we can see why!

Of course they don’t have ceasars in Australia but this was the next best thing! 666 Vodka had three types of Bloody Mary’s for guests to sip while they figured out what to try next.

This dish from Costilla De Res is what dreams are made of! Eight hour slow cooked beef rib with sweet corn mash and marrow. Tender and oh so yummy!

Mamasita Melbourne does corn right! Charred with chipotle mayo, queso & lime.

This was arguably our favourite dish of the festival. It was so good we went back for seconds! Soft-shell Crab Souviak with mint, coriander, honey and mayo from Gazi.

We were so in love with the Crab for Gazi, we tried a second dish from them and were not disappointed! This Prawn Kataifi was oh so delicious. Crispy Kataifi pastry, Aleppo mayo, honey & almond.

Royal Mail Hotel finished our night with their Duck Phat Sundays. Need we say more?

Thank you Taste of Melbourne for treating us to a wonderful day of eating, drinking and discovering the amazing food culture in Australia. We can’t wait to come back again some day!
